After many sessions of thoughtful observation in a core space for my community back home during the pandemic, I designed a bench for individuals who stand and wait around for long periods of time in this busy central meeting spot. These users, mostly elderly citizens, often seem uncomfortable and lost while carrying heavy baggage.
This pillar bench can provide temporary rest for travelers, at the same time providing sure landmarks as meeting spots. Its design also saves space to avoid conflicts during the overwhelming rush hours.

The paternal and filial duties discipline the heart, and prepare it for the love of all mankind. The intensity of private attachment encourages, not prevents, universal benevolence.
~ Samuel Taylor Coleridge
